Position Description

Environmental Monitoring Coordinator
Beaver Dam/Fond du Lac area
Wisconsin
(16 - 18 month contract)


This Environmental Monitoring Specialist/Coordinator will be working in the Beaver Dam, WI area on a 16 - 18 month contract. The majority of the work will occur in the field, consisting of agricultural fields, streams/rivers, wetlands, woodlots, and somewhat hilly terrain.  There will be some office work, consisting of preparing documents, forms and photographs to record compliance.

This person will become familiar with all applications and permits obtained for the project (DNR, US ACOE, Dept of Agriculture, etc).  This person will also develop, schedule and provide training to contractors (field crews) prior to field activities to avoid results that may cause environmental impact (erosion control, storm water control, wetland crossing, etc). Attend daily pre-construction meetings and safety meetings as necessary.  Conduct environmental site inspections as required by the DNR (inspections will include erosion control, restoration activities, pre/post construction conditions, and photographing).
 
Ideal candidate will be familiar with NR 216 permitting, documenting spills/clean up actions, DNR Ch. 30, WQC, and US ACOE 401/404 applications, and be familiar with Wisconsin Endangered Species regulations.
 
Must have:
-- Extensive environmental inspection experience on large projects (5+ yrs of relevant field experience)
-- Bachelors Degree in a Biology, Environmental, or Civil Engineering field
-- Extensive experience with erosion control and storm water control measures (and implementation)
-- Understanding of construction methods for trenching waterways and wetland crossings
-- Experience with agricultural mitigation and restoration
-- Mapping and record keeping (GIS/GPS)
