Position Description

 Production Operator – Level I


POSITION PURPOSE/SUMMARY:

This person sets-up, operates and cleans production processing equipment, prepares coating solutions in a cGMP environment and follows detailed written instructions and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s). Typical tasks include: verifying label & lot number information, weighing components, maintaining process conditions, verifying certain tasks performed by others, calculating yields and ratios, identifying deviations to processes under their control and labeling containers as to contents, lot number, weights, etc.

Following training, which typically lasts four to six months, employee is expected to be capable of independently running/teardown/cleandown of at least three units/projects (or variations of) efficiently and accurately.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work is primarily performed in an inside environment. Employee may occasionally be exposed to airborne particles, wet environments and hazardous chemicals.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1) Follow all CPI safety policies & practices
2) Follow all CPI cGMP policies & practices
3) Mix coating solutions
4) Operate equipment in assigned unit (e.g. Coating or Capsule filling)
5) Disassemble, clean & reassemble coating units & areas
6) Maintain records
7) Perform simple math calculations
8) Transfer solvent from large to small containers
9) Stage materials/equipment for processing
10) Act as backup to Utility Operator
11) Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

1) Ability to read, write (legibly) and speak the English language at a level necessary for efficient job performance
2) Ability to lift objects weighing up to 55 lbs. and move objects weighing 150 lbs
3) Ability to follow oral and written instructions
4) Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers
5) Knowledge of current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP’s) preferred
6) Understand purpose and content of Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS’s) preferred
7) High school diploma or equivalent (minimum)
