Prepare formal models, drawings and related documents of custom and standard products to communicate physical relationships, function and reliability of design. Types of drawings include detail, complex layout, and final assembly. Drawings are used for sales proposals, customer submittals and shop fabrication and assembly. Calculates complex dimensions, tolerances, and technical specifications in accordance with established practices and Code requirements. Work under minimal supervision and draw solutions from experience. Provide technical assistance to less experienced Designers.


ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Prepare drawings using Solidworks. Must be familiar with design/update of components, layouts, drawings, sketches, schematics, Code requirements, etc. Code requirements must be reviewed by Design Engineer.

2. Prepare drawings per customer specification, job summary, Code manuals, and verbal instruction. Show dimensions, connections and other information to demonstrate suitability of design.

3. Prepare drawings of simple electrical and/or pneumatic schematics from sketches.

4. Check drawings for accuracy of dimension, detail and fits and tolerances.

5. Prepare and revise drawings, bills-of-material, and write Engineering Changes.

6. Prepare and assist with advanced order material requisitions.

7. Verify and update shop drawing and bills-of-material returns for as-built and BOM updates.

8. Interface with Production, Purchasing, and Manufacturing to ensure drawings optimize production and purchasing demands.

9. All responsibilities of Designer I and other duties as assigned by supervisor.

PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS:

1. Proficiency with computers, and 3D CAD design.

2. Drawings and documents that are consistently accurate, complete, understandable, and finished in reasonable time.

3. Knowledge of products, materials, codes, and standards, to make correct decisions where independent judgments are needed.

4. Meticulous attention to details to ensure: Accuracy of design, proper material selection, serviceability, reasonable cost, and completeness for manufacturing and purchasing.

5. Thorough review of own work to reduce unnecessary rework.

6. Willingness to request assistance as necessary to meet deadlines.

7. Careful planning of work to make efficient use of time.
