Position Summary:

The Corporate Sanitation Program Manager will be responsible for the following activities:

  • SANITATION PROGRAM: Develop and oversee all elements of Ventura's Sanitation program. Drive standardization accross company by establishing standards and then assisting plants in building and executing compliant programs.
  • PLANT KPI/COMPLIANCE Define key performance indicators (KPIs), monitor progress, and close gaps. Ensure that our Sites effectively manage the day-to-day implementation of sanitation protocols. Develop a sanitation auditing program for annual audits to be conducted by Corporate.
  • SYSTEMS AND EQUIPMENT Own smart manufacturing for sanitation, including hygenic design standards and innovative approaches to sanitation. Utilize technology and software systems like Redzone and Poka and VRS to optimize and modernize sanitation execution.
  • SANITATION STRUCTURE, EMPLOYEES AND TRAINING. Establish ideal sanitation structures and approaches for small/medium/large plants. Develop an onboarding/training program for Sanitation leaders and sanitors. Develop a certification program for production employees in hybrid model plants. Assist plants in development of a training matrix to understand skill strengths and weaknesses.
  • OPERATING MODEL Develop an effective operating model with key stakeholders ie Senior & plant management, cross-functional teams, RVPs, site leaders and QA Managers.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:

SANITATION PROGRAM DESIGN and EXECUTION

  • Develop, communicate, and oversee all elements of Ventura's Sanitation program; drive standardization; establish and enforce a library of standards forequipment design, chemical usage, cleaning approaches and frequencies. Establish long range plans and annual objectives and success measures.

SITE KPI COMPLIANCE AND CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT MANAGEMENT

  • Define key performance indicators (KPIs), monitor progress, provide technical expertise, lead gap closure RCA/CAPAs. Develop and execute a VF Sanitation Audit including risk assessment and action plan. Provide technical leadership for initiatives with a sanitation element including EMP, pest control, new equipment design an construction activities.

SITE KPI COMPLIANCE AND CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT MANAGEMENT

  • Define key performance indicators (KPIs), monitor progress, provide technical expertise, lead gap closure RCA/CAPAs. Develop and execute a VF Sanitation Audit including risk assessment and action plan. Provide technical leadership for initiatives with a sanitation element including EMP, pest control, new equipment design an construction activities.

SANITATION SYSTEMS, EQIUPMENT, EFFICIENCY

  • Own hygenic design and cleaning stanards. Provide input to the design and testing of new/improved sanitation methods, best practice sharing between plants, and identification of operational savings opportunities. Manage sanitation related CAPEX. Utilize technology like Redzone and Poka and VRS for efficiency and innovation of sanitation programs (pre-op ,MSS, changeovers). Manage the Ecolab equipment fund effectively.

SANITATION STRUCTURE, EMPLOYEES AND TRAINING

  • Establish ideal sanitation structures and designs for small/medium/large plants. Develop an onboarding program for sanitors in all models. Lead Sanitation University hosted by Ventura Foods. Assist plants in development of a training matrix and monitor compliance. Lead discussions of turnover, salary standards, and sanitor employee satisfaction to improve retention.

OPERATING MODEL

  • Develop an effective operating model with key stakeholders. Partner cross functionally to establish sanitation 'must haves' including R&D, Engineering and Maintenance. Work closely with each RVP and Site leader to ensure they are receiving the best possible support and performance from the local and HQ Sanitation Team(s).

Travel required 40% of the time. 3rd shift work required while visiting sites to support sanitation employees. Position may be remotely located near a major airport.

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Food Science, Food Safety, Microbiology or related technical field with 10+ years of experience in food industry including 5+ years of experience in sanitation program management.
Knowledge and Skills:
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in food production sanitation roles of increasing responsibility.
  • Bachelor's degree required - preferred Food Science, Food Safety, Microbiology or related scientific field.
  • Experience with diverse sanitizing applications (wet clean, dry clean, CIP systems, automation).
  • Experience in successfully addressing environmental sanitation challenges in areas such as drains and floors.
  • Experience overseeing multiple, remote locations and leading through influence.
  • Experience providing supervision, guidance, effective training and counsel to others.
  • Ability to write and disseminate policies and procedures.
  • Ability to understand food and environmental regulations and their impact on the organization, and our customers.
  • Strong organizational, communication and collaboration skills.
  • HACCP and PCQI trained/certified
  • Strong business, planning, communication skillset with the ability to manage complex projects involving multiple stakeholders
  • Proven ability to interact clearly and effectively with cross functional business partners to establish targets and maintain timelines

  • Salary Base Range of $101,120 - $132,187 for Employees Located in California*
  • Annual bonus (based on the incentive program terms and conditions)

*The "base salary range" provided above is a good faith estimate of what we expect to pay for this position. The range provided is for California-based employees as Ventura Foods is required by California State Law to post pay rates. Ventura Foods reserves the right to pay outside of the given range based on a variety of factors including but not limited to: candidate skills and experience, complexity of the job, budgetary factors, and location/geography. Ventura Foods conducts regular reviews of compensation ranges and therefore reserves the right to alter this range at any given time.
