Position Title: Mid-Atlantic Outreach, Engagement & Research Intern

The Mid-Atlantic Outreach, Engagement & Research Intern will work with the MARO team to engage advocates for campaigns to protect our parks against threats including highway expansions, the Maglev magnetic train, inappropriately sited data centers, and regional haze. The Intern will research potential allies, inform them of the threats, and work to engage them in our work. The Intern will create power maps to identify spheres of influence for decision makers. The Intern will help design outreach materials for various audiences and will conduct outreach through email, telephone, and Zoom. The Intern will conduct research into the impacts of these threats in the Mid-Atlantic Region. Finally, the Intern will write factsheets, online and campaign materials, and communications to the public and to decision makers.
Qualifications/Requirements (i.e., education, technical skills):
Excellent writing and communication skills. Basic computer program skills. Undergraduate college student
Describe the tangible deliverables (projects, outcomes) that will be achieved:
Database of allies for different campaigns. Written materials for a wide variety of uses. Research on decision makers. Increased number of allies.
Work Status: Full-time for 8 to ten week 31.5 hours per week in June, 30 hours per week in July and August
Ideal Work Schedule: Monday - Thursday - 9 to 6, Fridays in June - 9 to 12:30
Salary (Hourly Rate): $15.20 per hour
